We are ORC International UK and we would like to thank you for your interest in our survey. This page provides key points relating to our privacy policy. A copy of our full privacy policy is available via the links below.

Taking part in one of our market research surveys means you (the respondent) consent to the terms outlined below and set out in detail in our privacy policy. Please read this page, and our privacy policy, carefully before you take part in a survey, and make sure that you are happy with the terms set out before you do so.

We endeavour to keep this information up to date, and our privacy policy is subject to periodic review. Each full, regional or specific privacy policy has a date of issue which is the latest review date.

Respondent Privacy Policy (Issue date 31 August 2016):

o This privacy policy applies solely to surveys or questionnaires that display or link to this policy. Where other ORC International websites, services and products do not display or link to this statement then their own privacy statements apply, and these will be available via a link.
o Our survey, questionnaires or related documents may contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. ORC International is not responsible for the data policies, procedures or content of any third party website which may be linked from our survey pages or questionnaires. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.
o We know that you may wish to keep your survey or questionnaire responses private. Unless you consent to us sharing your survey or questionnaire responses with third parties (such as the company commissioning the survey or questionnaire), we will not share your personal data with any third party other than as described in this privacy policy or unless we have your prior, express consent. Instead, we will only share it in aggregated, anonymous form (so that you will not be identifiable from it).
o We may choose to participate in a survey and to share personal data with us and, if you do choose to do so, you are agreeing to the use of your personal data as described in this policy. You should therefore not complete a survey or questionnaire unless you have read this policy first and are happy to agree to its terms.
o Your rights in relation to any personal data that we collect from you are set out in detail below.

Purposes for which we collect personal data
o Information that we collect from you is used:
o for market research purposes, for providing our services to you and, on your behalf, to the company who commissioned the survey or questionnaire;
o to provide you with support (including by way of telephone assistance).
o to manage our service and improve our offering (be it the creation of new content or survey/questionnaire features); and
o to enforce our terms of use and to prevent any potentially illegal activity.
o For market research purposes, we may use the survey or questionnaire responses you provide for product development, to support client relationships, for work planning and strategic decision making or to undertake research and analysis for third parties. Third parties will only receive a report that contains data in aggregated, anonymous form and we will not share your personal data with them in a form which enables you to be identified from it if we have first obtained your express consent. We or permitted third parties will only make further contact with you if you have consented to this.
o We will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes or for any other purpose not stated in this policy. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the survey or questionnaire. You can also exercise this right at any time (and withdraw your consent) by contacting the ORC International contact named on the survey invite or within the survey itself.
o Unless you agree otherwise, any personal data we hold or collect about you will be treated as confidential. For some surveys we may ask your consent to report on your personal data in a form which identifies you alongside your responses. If you agree, we will ensure that this information is used only for the purposes stated.

Information we collect
o When you complete an ORC International survey you may disclose personal data to us. This may be information about you as an individual (including your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, personal description and/or photograph) or opinions you offer in response to our survey questions (including the survey or questionnaire data) or other data which you intentionally share (for example a testimonial).
o When you complete our survey, we may also automatically collect usage data when you interact with our services (including log files about the nature of your access, such as your IP address, system versions, browser versions or time zones). We may also collect information about your visit, including Uniform Resource Locators (URL), page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages and page interaction information.
o We may also receive information about you from other sources (for example, as part of an employee or a customer list given to us by our client). We may combine this information with the information you give to us.

Use of Personal Information by Third Party Partners
o We may share your personal data with third party partners in order to enable them to provide specific services to ORC International, such as fulfilling requests for information, receiving and sending communications, analysing data or other support tasks from time to time. In such cases, we will remain the controller of the personal data concerned and will have a contract with the third party partner which protects your personal data from unauthorised use or disclosure and restricts its use to purposes directed by us.
o Those third party partners will be permitted to obtain only the personal information they need to deliver the service; are required to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information; and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
o We do not share your personal data with any other entity controlling, controlled by, or under common control with ORC International, except in some cases when you contact us for support, in which case (depending on the time) you may be put in contact with one of our associated companies (for example, in the US) who may then have access to your personal data solely to the extent necessary to provide you with the support you have requested.

Other disclosures
o We may disclose your personal data to third parties if required by law or to permit us to exercise our legal rights or take action regarding illegal activities or protect the rights of our clients or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection.
o As we develop our business, there may be a change of control of our company, our divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates or portions of our business. In this situation, your personal data may be transferred along with the other assets of our business. Also, in the event that we, our divisions, affiliates or subsidiaries are purchased, personal data may be one of the transferred assets. In any such case, the person to whom the personal data are transferred will be required to continue to process it only in accordance with this policy.

Retention of Personal Data
o Personal data that we collect from you is retained by us for a period of 2 years after collection, unless we agree an extended period with you. After the end of the 2 year (or agreed extended) period, it will be deleted and we will no longer have a copy of it.
o If you withdraw your consent to our processing your personal data, we will delete the personal data concerned at that point and will not keep a copy of it. Your right to withdraw your consent is dealt with in more detail, below.

o We ensure that appropriate technical and organisational measures are taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of your personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, your personal data.
o ORC International, a global market research firm, is committed to maintaining the privacy and security of your personal information according to the terms outlined in this policy. As members of various national industry authorities such as the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO), the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR), the Association of Market and Social Research Organisation (AMSRO) and the Market Research Society (UK) we must adhere to rigorous industry standards which exist in part to safeguard your privacy and the security of your personal information.
o The data that we collect from you will be processed within the European Economic Area (“EEA”), except that it may sometimes be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or one of our associated companies (for example should you require out of hours telephone assistance, a member of our team in the United States may assist you). By submitting your personal data, we will ask you to agree to this transfer, storing or processing of your personal data.
o We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this policy. However, as information transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

o We may use cookies to distinguish you from other users of our services. If we choose to do so, we will inform you.
o Please note that third parties (including, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) may also use cookies, over which we have no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies or targeting cookies.

o We will not knowingly collect any information from or about children without prior permission from their parents or legal guardian. This is typically defined as under 16 years of age.
